Highlights

  • Nurabad: well No. 9 of the Janub water intake, 5 km from the boiler house, in service since 1980, used for hot water since 2008; water at 37–40 °C.
  • Saving claimed: up to 1,000 t of standard fuel, or 0.9 million m³ of natural gas, a year.
  • The combine’s fuel and energy use in 2017: 628,000 t of standard fuel.
  • Saved in 2010–2017: 1,135 million kWh of electricity, 88,000 Gcal of heat, 32.7 million m³ of gas, 7,200 t of fuel oil and 75.3 million m³ of water.

Summary

The chief power engineer’s team of the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combinat reviews the combine’s energy saving in 2010–2017. Over those years ore processing grew by 15.3%, rock mining by 48.0% and the pumping of in-situ leach solutions by 73.3%, and the combine’s fuel and energy use reached 628,000 tonnes of standard fuel in 2017. The measures taken saved 1,135 million kWh of electricity, 88,000 Gcal of heat, 32.7 million m³ of natural gas, 7,200 t of fuel oil and 75.3 million m³ of water.

The measures include automated control of grinding mills, 537 variable-frequency drives, transistor drives on electric excavators, solar collectors, biogas plants and photovoltaic stations.

Geothermal water supplies hot water to the people of Nurabad. It comes to the town’s boiler house from well No. 9 of the Janub water intake, 5 km away, which was put into service in 1980; since 2008 it has been used for the town’s hot water. The water arrives at 37–40 °C, passes through filters into the boiler house, is heated further and goes into the network for heating and hot water. The authors put the yearly saving at up to 1,000 tonnes of standard fuel, or 0.9 million m³ of natural gas.
