Abstract

It is known that 71% of the planet's surface is covered with water, most of which is completely frozen or unsuitable for human consumption. Water resources in Uzbekistan are the most important source of consumption in various sectors of the economy. Therefore, we analyze the chemical composition and physicochemical properties of the most widely consumed groundwater.

In plain English

The authors sampled groundwater in different parts of Akhcha village in Chust district and analysed it with standard chemical methods: total hardness by complexometric titration with Trilon B, iron, ammonium (with Nessler’s reagent) and chloride by colour tests, and sulphate and bicarbonate by titration. No ammonium was found.

The results table gives taste 1.78 and odour 1.76 points (standard 2.0), colour 18.4 degrees (standard 20), turbidity 1.74 mg/dm³ (standard 1.5), total hardness 0.55 (standard 7.0), nitrate 15.6 mg/dm³ (standard 45), sulphate 254.4 mg/dm³ (standard 500), magnesium 14.2 mg/dm³ (standard 12.0), calcium 1.17 mg/dm³ (standard 23.0) and iron 0.27 mg/dm³ (standard 0.3).
