Summary
M. R. Juraev and G. A. Bimurzaev of the Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology (HYDROENGEO), B. H. Razykov of the Russian-Tajik (Slavic) University and B. Kh. Khaidarov of Tashkent State Technical University studied the lithological and facies conditions under which hydrogen sulphide waters form in the gas and oil fields of Uzbekistan’s artesian basins. These waters are closely tied to areas where halogen rocks (evaporites) and oil and gas complexes are developed together. The authors present their map as a map of the paragenesis of hydrogen sulphide waters with evaporites and oil and gas complexes, paragenesis meaning the joint occurrence of genetically related minerals or chemical elements.
Hydrogen sulphide waters of high concentration do not form if one of the two necessary conditions, sulphates or petroleum organic matter, is missing. In the anticlinal structures identified, hydrogen sulphide waters form because of small gas and oil deposits that are of no industrial importance.
