The World Bank’s Country Climate and Development Report (CCDR) for Uzbekistan sets out a path to cut natural gas use by 40% by 2060 compared with 2019, with heat pumps and district heating to decarbonise heating and solar and wind leading the growth of power, Trend reported on 10 December 2023.

The report says other renewables could also play a role in power and heat production, with geothermal and biomass having theoretical potentials of 1 GW and 15–17 GW respectively.

In a later article, on 30 December 2023, Trend quoted the Bank as attributing these figures to the IEA.
