On 29 July 2026, Deputy Minister of Mining Industry and Geology R. Yusupov met a delegation of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination of Central Asia (ICWC), with specialists of O‘zbekgidrogeologiya and the Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology, the ministry reported the same day.
The sides reviewed work on the rational use and protection of groundwater in Uzbekistan, and discussed international and grant projects on sustainable water management, climate adaptation and transboundary water resources in Central Asia.
They agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding between the ministry and the commission. It foresees cooperation on studying transboundary aquifers, developing geothermal sources within the water–energy–land (NEXUS) approach, and training hydrogeologists in international water diplomacy and water law.
