B. M. Toshmamatov of Karshi State Technical University and T. A. Faiziev of Karshi State University modelled heat transfer in the soil around geothermal wells in Kashkadarya region with the COMSOL Multiphysics software, in a paper published on 27 March 2026 in the journal Alternative Energy.

Their models cover the Mubarak, Otkuduk, Chirokchi and Karlyk geothermal sources. Within the 50–75 °C range of source temperatures studied, a higher temperature significantly increased both the temperature gradient and the intensity of heat spread in the soil.

The authors conclude that geothermal sources have high potential for heating buildings.
