Representatives of BRGM, France’s geological survey, and Expertise France visited the Kh. M. Abdullayev Institute of Geology and Geophysics, the institute reported on 18 September 2026.
The main aims of the visit were to study Uzbekistan’s deep geothermal potential, exchange views on research results, and discuss future cooperation. Institute staff presented the geothermal research they have carried out and their studies in promising areas.
The institute called the meeting an important step for strengthening scientific ties between Uzbek and French geologists and for developing cooperation projects in geothermal energy.

BRGM and Expertise France also visited the Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology on 10 September, and BRGM geologists met Uzbekgeofizika’s Fergana Geophysical Expedition, as reported on 17 September.
