Shohruh Boqijonov, a PhD student at the University of Leeds, wrote on 20 September 2026 that he had attended the British Geophysical Association’s PGRiP 2026 conference in Oxford on 2–4 September.

In his first poster presentation, he showed preliminary results from Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS), a fibre-optic seismic method, within the University of Leeds geothermal project.

He also met Professor Richard Walker to discuss studying seismic hazards in connection with climate adaptation and hydropower safety, including monitoring landslides around the Charvak and Akhangaran reservoirs in Uzbekistan.

Earlier, on 9 July, he had presented his research at a seminar at Leeds. Its aim, he wrote, is to reduce uncertainty in detecting small thermal changes underground. His PhD is funded by the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation.
